STEM Pride Social

October 16, 2017 | 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Following the “Out in the Lab: Visibility Matters” event in Spring 2017, members of the UNC community have been working together to enhance the experience and professional development of LGBTQ+ individuals in STEM fields. Today, we are excited to announce the creation of a new campus organization, STEM Pride of the Triangle, with the mission to create a visible and interconnected community of LGBTQ+ and allied STEM students and professionals committed to pursuing their careers with pride.
Come to our STEM Pride Fall Mixer at Tru Deli on Monday October 16 from 6-8:30 pm. This will be an opportunity to mingle and network with members of our group, as well as our friends in WinS, AM_WISE, Checked Out, and QSA. We welcome STEM students and professionals of all ages, sexual orientations, and genders. At 7pm, we will give a short overview of STEM Pride events planned for this year. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, and proceeds go toward funding STEM Pride’s Queer Perspectives Speaker Series. For more information, please check out the Facebook event!
STEM Pride plans to host events focusing on professional development, as well as networking and social events. This year we are organizing a Queer Perspectives Speaker Series discussing the professional and personal experiences of LGBTQ+ professionals in their career journeys. We also hope to co-sponsor events with other minority groups on campus to promote intersectionality and foster diversity at UNC and in the Triangle.
