President, Student Chapter of the American Library Association

About the Candidate and Platform

Hello everyone, I’m Amelia! I’m a first year MSLS student originally from Greensboro, NC.

Prior to coming to SILS, I spent 3 years with the Greensboro Public Library as a Library Associate and I was also our branch’s volunteer coordinator. While at American University for my undergrad, I worked in the library’s ILL department and I was the Co-President of the Women’s Club Volleyball team. I currently work at the Davis Library reference desk– come visit me!

As SCALA President, I would work closely with the VP and the rest of the SCALA board to continue to connect SILS students with the broader goals and initiatives of the ALA. If elected, I would seek to promote statewide and national conference attendance, provide opportunities for professional development, and lead discussions about equity and inclusion in librarianship. In addition to the spring book sale, I would also seek to have more events throughout the year to increase the visibility of the ALA on campus, and help students connect with resources available to them.

Thank you for your consideration!

Amelia
