ILSSA is the Information and Library Science Student Association of the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). The officers of ILSSA are the liaisons between SILS students and faculty, SILS students and SILS alumni, and SILS students and the GPSF. We are an organization run by students for students.

We strive to provide feedback to SILS faculty and staff that accurately reflects the sentiments of the student body. In addition, we organize activities to bring students and/or faculty and students together. ILSSA also arranges for new students to have a mentor student within SILS to ease the transition into the program.

Membership in ILSSA is open to all graduate and continuing studies students enrolled at the School of Information and Library Science.

We have an excellent opportunity to work as a real team and share responsibilities and workload. And thus, despite the specific responsibilities listed below, we often work together to organize and execute events and activities. For example, all officers participate in the planning and implementation of New Student Orientation, the Holiday Party and the Spring Picnic.
