Town Hall | ILSSA

One of ILSSA’s chief responsibilities is to host the Town Hall Meeting where students, professors, and administrators can have an honest conversation about the school and its various programs. Town Halls are scheduled once a semester, usually at the end.

The semesterly Town Hall is a time to gather feedback and discuss the goings-on of SILS. This can include things SILS is doing well or things that you think need improvement! We welcome all SILS affiliates to join ILSSA each semester to express thoughtful, respectful concerns as a time for reflection on the state of the school.

Town Hall will be moderated by ILSSA board members, and notes will be taken and put on the ILSSA website so that students and faculty who are not able to attend will be able to stay up to date.

Meeting Format

1. Town Hall Survey

SILS students will receive a Qualtrics survey about a month before the Town Hall is scheduled. Students can fill out the survey with any thoughts, questions, or suggestions that they have and submit it (anonymously if they wish). The survey will not be made available to anyone outside of the ILSSA board.

2. Five-Item Agenda

From the Town Hall Survey, the ILSSA board will review the results and select the five most common topics that will form the agenda for the Town Hall meeting.

3. Faculty Review

After the five-item agenda is created, ILSSA will send the agenda first to SILS faculty and staff and give them a week to ask any clarifying questions, give suggestions or propose ideas in response to the topics from the survey.

4. Agenda Dissemination

A week before the Town Hall, ILSSA will publicize the agenda with the faculty annotations to all of SILS so that students can come to the meeting ready for a focused and effective discussion.
