Study Hour with SABL

November 16, 2025

Join the Student Association of Black Librarians (SABL) for a study hour in Manning 208 on November 19, 5:30-7:30pm. This is the first study hour event in a series of two to catch up on readings, assignments, or to just vibe.

If you need a designated space to get work done, or to just hang out, please stop by! Pizza and drinks will be provided!

Book Swap Participation Deadline

QLIC is partnering with SCOSAA and SABL to host an awesome Cozy Secret Book Swap with lots of food, warm beverages and winter cheer!

The book swap will take place on December 4 at 3:30pm.

How does the book swap work?
Everyone who is interested in participating will fill out THIS FORM by Wednesday, Nov. 26. (You don’t have to be a member of any of these orgs!) In the vein of Secret Santa, you will be matched with someone and have a week to get a book for them before the event! Used books encouraged! There’s more info in the form about if you want to participate and can’t make the event, can’t afford a book, etc.

Flourish Presents: Friendsgiving

Join Flourish in Manning 01 on November 21, 3:30-5:30pm for their first event of the year!

Flourish is a revived student group focused on building community and providing professional development opportunities for students of color and international students at SILS. Co-sponsored with SABL, Flourish is holding a Friendsgiving social for students to learn about what Flourish and mingle with other students with some good food!

All students from SILS are welcomed. Please come ready to enjoy catering from Bulbox (vegan options provided) to hear about our new missions, goals, and anticipated events for the Spring semester!

SABL Presents “Poetry is Not a Luxury”: A Black Feminist Poetry Workshop

October 16, 2025

Please join the Student Association for Black Librarians (SABL) for our first event of the semester: a Black feminist poetry workshop at the Love House from 5:30-7p.m.. We will be reading, discussing, and writing poems in conversation with writers such as Lucille Clifton, June Jordan, Audre Lorde and more. Snacks will be provided!
