Join the Information and Library Science Student Association (ILSSA) to watch a UNC Men’s Basketball game on November 18, 7pm, in the Dean Smith Center!

Interested students can meet ILSSA at the front steps of Manning Hall at 6:30pm to walk to the Dean Smith Center (~1 mile walk) together or can meet ILSSA at Gate C at 7pm!

The Information and Library Science Student Association (ILSSA) is hosting a holiday social for all of SILS! Mark your calendars for December 3, 5-8pm, (location still being determined) for food and a fun time. More details to come.

The Information and Library Science Student Association (ILSSA) is holding the SILS Fall 2025 Town Hall in Manning 208 on November 17, 4-6 pm. This will be a hybrid (in-person and virtual option available) event.

The Town Hall is meant as a time for students to discuss what is on their mind and hear updates about the state of the school. The topics will be decided based upon the students’ submissions to this form (closes November 16):

The Information and Library Science Student Association (ILSSA) is holding another Student Body Meeting in Manning 208, November 14, 3-5pm!

This is a hybrid (Manning 208 and Zoom) Student Body Meeting (for all students, undergraduate through doctoral, part-time and full-time) to go over information about the new school, discuss anticipated steps for students moving forward, and to prepare for the Town Hall that will be held on November 17. Slides and meeting minutes will be shared afterwards.

The Information and Library Science Student Association (ILSSA) invites you to join them in the School of Information and Library Science (SILS) Library (in Manning Hall) for games and snacks on Monday, October 27, from 6-8 pm! Please feel free to bring your favorite games as well.

The Queer Library and Information Collective (QLIC) and Information and Library School Student Association (ILSSA) present Community Knit & Crochet! We invite knitters and crocheters of any level to work on hats for Acorn Caps (acorncaps.org), a local organization that donates handmade hats to students in Orange County schools, in the Undergraduate Library Makerspace on November 5 from 2-4pm.

Patterns and some materials (yawn and hooks) will be available, but feel free to bring your own materials as well! You are welcomed to get started on a new hat or continue an existing project.

Hates will be collected until November 12. If you are unable to come to the event but still want to donate a handmade hat, then please drop your hat off between October 29 and November 12 in the labelled box outisde of Manning 215 (behind the fire door)!
