The Queer Library and Information Collective (QLIC) and Information and Library School Student Association (ILSSA) present Community Knit & Crochet! We invite knitters and crocheters of any level to work on hats for Acorn Caps (acorncaps.org), a local organization that donates handmade hats to students in Orange County schools, in the Undergraduate Library Makerspace on November 5 from 2-4pm.

Patterns and some materials (yawn and hooks) will be available, but feel free to bring your own materials as well! You are welcomed to get started on a new hat or continue an existing project.

Hates will be collected until November 12. If you are unable to come to the event but still want to donate a handmade hat, then please drop your hat off between October 29 and November 12 in the labelled box outisde of Manning 215 (behind the fire door)!

Join the ILSSA craft night subcommittee on October 21, 6-8pm, in the Undergraduate Library Makerspace for some seasonal and ghoulish arts and crafts! Need to make an accessory for your Halloween costume? Come on by!

Join the Information and Library Science Student Association (ILSSA) on September 26, 2-3pm, in Manning Hall 208 to learn library hand! Library hand was a specific handwriting style that was taught in library schools to ensure consistent legibility in library card catalogs. Join us for a brief lesson on this fascinating history and to practice the skill!

This is a reoccurring online craft social on Fridays at 1pm that is hosted by Dr. Casey Rawson over Zoom. Students are encourage to work on, or start, a craft while relaxing with others.

Join QLIC at the the weekly Stitch ‘n Bitch night at Steel String Brewery! This is a reoccurring community event in Carrboro that is not affiliated with the university. Open to all.

Bring your own creative project – knitting kit, stitching project, sketch/coloring book, lego set, or whatever portable art of your choice and come hang out with us. Steel String has plenty of non-alcoholic drink options as well!
