ILSSA x MBBall

November 15, 2025

Join the Information and Library Science Student Association (ILSSA) to watch a UNC Men’s Basketball game on November 18, 7pm, in the Dean Smith Center!

Interested students can meet ILSSA at the front steps of Manning Hall at 6:30pm to walk to the Dean Smith Center (~1 mile walk) together or can meet ILSSA at Gate C at 7pm!

SILS Holiday Social

The Information and Library Science Student Association (ILSSA) is hosting a holiday social for all of SILS! Mark your calendars for December 3, 5-8pm, (location still being determined) for food and a fun time. More details to come.

Book Swap Participation Deadline

November 15, 2025

QLIC is partnering with SCOSAA and SABL to host an awesome Cozy Secret Book Swap with lots of food, warm beverages and winter cheer!

The book swap will take place on December 4 at 3:30pm.

How does the book swap work?
Everyone who is interested in participating will fill out THIS FORM by Wednesday, Nov. 26. (You don’t have to be a member of any of these orgs!) In the vein of Secret Santa, you will be matched with someone and have a week to get a book for them before the event! Used books encouraged! There’s more info in the form about if you want to participate and can’t make the event, can’t afford a book, etc.

CWS Presents: Data Dinner

Join Community Workshop Series (CWS) for our annual Data Dinner on November 21, 5:00-7:00pm, in Manning 214.
At this event CWS volunteers work together to digitally enter all of patron feedback forms from the past semester. We’ll also debrief about this semester’s classes, thoughts for next semester, and enjoy a pizza dinner together as we chat. This meeting will be held in person only. Anyone is welcome to join!

SABL Presents: Are.na & Chill

Join the Student Association of Black Librarians (SABL) for a cozy evening of vision boarding using Are.na, a librarian-friendly app for social networking and creative research. Bring a laptop or tablet if possible (but a phone will work too). There will also be tea, snacks, and music from our semester playlist!

Town Hall

The Information and Library Science Student Association (ILSSA) is holding the SILS Fall 2025 Town Hall in Manning 208 on November 17, 4-6 pm. This will be a hybrid (in-person and virtual option available) event.

The Town Hall is meant as a time for students to discuss what is on their mind and hear updates about the state of the school. The topics will be decided based upon the students’ submissions to this form (closes November 16):
