NCSLA Career Workshop: LinkedIn Party

April 5, 2017 | 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

When: Wednesday, April 5, 6:00 – 7:30 PM
Where: UNC School of Information and Library Science (SILS) – Manning Hall, Room 307

LinkedIn has become a vital resource for finding employment opportunities. Many companies and recruiters use LinkedIn to source and attract applicants for open positions in their organizations. Increasingly, employers are researching applicants on LinkedIn before deciding to interview or hire them. Even if you are not actively seeking new employment, LinkedIn can lead to new opportunities that you may have never considered. NCSLA is pleased to present a hands-on workshop on creating an effective profile in LinkedIn. The session will be led by Laura Fu who will be assisted by other knowledgeable NCSLA members.

In this workshop you will learn:

• How to create a professional LinkedIn profile
• How to use your profile to effectively network online and in person
• How to “passively” job search and indicate openness to new opportunities

Please bring your laptop or other personal device in order to participate fully in this event. You will be able to get immediate feedback on your existing profile or assistance in creating a new profile from scratch. Also, you will be able to ask questions and get answers about what has worked and not worked for others who have created their profiles.

Refreshments will be provided.
