First Amendment Day Banned Book Reading

In honor of First Amendment Day and Banned Books Week, COYL coordinates student and faculty volunteers to read from books that have been banned or challenged on the front steps of Manning and have discussions about censorship issues. The event is co-sponsored by the UNC Center for Media Law and Policy, which annually organizes events throughout campus on First Amendment Day to “celebrate the First Amendment and explore its role in the lives of Carolina students” (from firstamendmentday.unc.edu). We hope everyone will stop by to listen and celebrate our freedom to read! We will be taking volunteers for readers at COYL’s interest meeting.
