COYL Meeting: Election Information + YALSA with Dr. Hughes-Hassell

October 25, 2017 | 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

With student organization elections coming up and nominations due on the 27th, we are scheduling a meeting to talk about the history and future of COYL and what is involved in being a COYL officer. If you have even the slightest interest in the possibility of being the next awesome president, vice president, or treasurer, we strongly encourage you to come ask us questions at this meeting! We know you would do a wonderful job. 🙂 Any youth services student who graduates after the Fall 2018 semester is eligible. Even if you’re not interested in officership, we’d love for you to come and hang out, and let us know what you’d like to see from us for the rest of the semester and from the new officers in the spring! And if you’re interested but can’t make it, we would be happy to set up a separate meeting with you.
At 5:00, Dr. Hughes-Hassell will be joining us to talk about YALSA (the Young Adult Library Services Association, part of the American Library Association) and YALSA membership. Involvement with YALSA (or at the very least keeping up with their publications and initiatives!) is a really beneficial way to continue your professional development as you grow within your careers. We are uniquely privileged among library students to have such an opportunity to learn from the president of YALSA, so we strongly encourage you to take advantage of it and ask her any questions you have about the organization!
After the meeting, we can walk to TRU together for “After Hours with Brian & Mary Grace!”
