About the Candidate and Platform

Hi everyone! My name is Taylor and I am a first year dual MLS/Art History MA candidate (also pursing the ARM track here in SILS). Originally from Boston, I spent my undergrad years in Northampton MA at Smith College where I majored in studio art and minored in archival studies. I have held internships at The Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America at Harvard and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Before coming to UNC, I worked for 2.5 years at the University of Pennsylvania’s Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, in both their collections department and museum archives. I was involved with a 2 year collections move project, where we moved over 60,000 ancient Egyptian artifacts from the Museum to an off-site storage facility. It was a big job, but was by far the most interesting and informative experience I have ever had.

I am a dedicated, organized and highly communicative person – skills I believe lend themselves well to the role of AMLISS secretary. These traits combined with my professional experience and love for the arts and museums would enable me to be passionately supportive in my roll as secretary if elected. As a first semester first year, I am still getting my feet wet here – I would value the opportunity to be more involved in and contribute to the SILS community as I continue my education. Thank you for your consideration!
