Office
Secretary, Student Chapter of the Society of American ArchivistsAbout the Candidate and Platform
Hello! My name is Emma Evans, and I am a first-year MSLS Student on the Archives and Records Management track. I came to UNC from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Honors History and English-Technical Communication. I am very excited to be here at SILS to continue my ARM education and geek out with my fellow ILS nerds!
My passion for archive and records management began during my time at the University of Tennessee, where I worked as a collections processing assistant in UT Libraries Special Collections and University Archives for two and a half years. Several undergraduate internships provided me with work experience in Collections Logistics and Cultural Heritage Institutions as well. I am currently the Human Rights Archive – Technical Services Intern at Duke University Libraries.
As a SCOSAA officer, I would like to collaborate with the other officers and members to continue current SCOSAA events and traditions while also adding new and innovative outreach events. I believe these events could increase general awareness and understanding of archives in the UNC community. Furthermore, I would like to create professional programming events and activities that could better connect SCOSAA members to professionals in the broader SAA community.
Please feel free to reach out and email me with any further questions at eevans18@live.unc.edu.
